Another Hospital Post

My last post was written Christmas day. This one is being written on Martin Luther King Day. Maybe I'll try to keep the pattern going and the next one will be written on Valentine's Day, which also happens to be my granddaughter's birthday.
I'm writing this while sitting on a couch in my wife's hospital room. SOS. She suffered from abdominal pain all weekend and finally needed to get something for the pain. Because the pain got worse when she ate or drank, she didn't do much of either, so she got semi-dehydrated as well. Hopefully she'll be out and back in control on Tuesday.
On the reading front, I'm still working on Fear of Flying. I'm about 80% finished. The author/narrator has written some worthwhile observations on writing and other things and I'll share some of those later. The character left her husband, temporarily, to run around Europe with Adrian. Her husband, Bennet, was understandably pissed and had no desire to tell her where he would be when she decided to be done with Adrian. If she did. She discovered that Adrian is a fraud. They've been driving all around Europe, living what Adrian is presenting as an existential lifestyle—living in the moment and for the moment and no thought to the future. Then it turns out he has an appointment to meet his wife and kids and has had that in front of him the whole time.
Isadora is pissed. And now she's alone, lugging her ton of a suitcase around, trying to find a place to sleep and discover where Bennet might be. She has discovered that, at least for her, this sexual freedom/equality thing has consequences.
She did travel south to Beirut to visit family. She has sisters and one of them, Randy, spends most of her time pregnant. It seems that she and her Arab husband don't believe in birth control. During her visit the family was scattered among several buildings and Isadora found herself sleeping alone in something like a shed. Her Arab brother-in-law came in and tried to convince her to give him a blow job. She declined, loudly and forcefully. Then she decided to go down the hill in the dark and tell her sisters. They laughed at her and her upset. He'd approached them first.
I finished The Barsoom Project yesterday. Now I'm starting on The Mida, Book 4: Perilous Choices. I've had the book for a while but haven't been in any hurry to read it because I already did…sort of. I was one of the beta readers Kim Sigafus employed before the final publication. Now I'll read the final product.
On the writing front, I got some feedback on the erotic story I published. The publishing site allows us to get the feedback in our email without revealing our email to the reactor. The young lady was very complimentary about the story and wondered if I might write another—same them, different character details. She is young and pretty (she sent a pic) and I'm old and not pretty, so I decided to cater to her request. We exchanged ideas about story and characters and I went ahead and wrote one. I sent her the first draft last night. I know the direction of the story will surprise her. The ending that I sent, though, is terrible, and that's the first thing to get changed. But now she gets the privilege of being the beta reader for this story before it's submitted.
So far only one vote to continue the Mascot Serial. I'll just keep the boys in suspended animation until I get at least three-to-four dozen requests to continue.
