(For any that clicked on here expecting a new chapter last week, my apologies. My excuses are listed on my 10/13 blog)
The going was not getting easier. On some planets, the approach to mountains are gradual. The ground slowly rises, then there are foothills to conquer, and then mountains, each one higher than the other until the highest elevations are achieved and the process is reversed.
Not on Kylrock, the planet of the Riotori. There were no foothills. The plain ended at the edge of towering rock formations that thrust thousands of feet into the air.
The twins looked, first, upward to the jagged tops of the barrier. They then looked left and right, hoping to see a break in the rugged and foreboding obstruction. There was none.
They consulted the map. It showed a small break in the rocky wall about a mile to their right. They sighed and trekked that way, Feldspar still entertaining his brother with cheerful profane grumblings.
